For paid online courses, e-learning and distance-learning programmes — asynchronous, with progress assessment. Approval required since 1977 (§ 12 FernUSG); since the BGH ruling of 12 June 2025 (III ZR 109/24) also for courses for business customers. A ministerial draft of 27 August 2026 provides that the requirement ends on 1 July 2027.
